چکیده
Polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) is a ferroelectric polymer characterized by negative strain along the direction of applied electric field. However, electromechanical response mechanism PVDF remains unclear due to complexity hierarchical structure across length scales. As described in this letter, we employ Finsler geometry model as new solution aforementioned problem and demonstrate that deformations observed through Monte Carlo simulations on 3D tetrahedral lattices are nearly identical those real PVDF. Specifically, simulated mechanical deformation polarization similar experimentally.

Investigation of electromechanical properties in ferroelectric thin films using Monte Carlo simulation
Electromechanical properties of ferroelectric thin films are investigated using a two-dimensional four-state Potts model and Monte Carlo simulation. In this model, the mechanical energy density induced by strains of individual cells is included in the system Hamiltonian, in addition to the contributions from dipole-dipole and electric-field-dipole couplings. Moreover, the dipole of each individ...
متن کاملModeling electromechanical properties of ionic polymers
We present a multi-scale approach to modeling the electro-mechanical behavior of ionic polymers. We start with a detailed elasto-electro-chemical model which allows for nite deformation. We reduce it to one space dimension appropriate for the commonly used sheet con guration, and demonstrate that steady state solutions display an important boundary layer e ect. We conclude with a macroscopic mo...

This talk will cover two classes of electroactive polymers under development recent at Penn State. One is the modified poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) polymer and the other is the high dielectric constant all-organic composite. Recently, making use of the defect structure modification in P(VDF-TrFE) based polymers, we converted normal ferroelectric P(VDF-TrFE) into rel...
متن کاملDesign and performance evaluation of spheroid geometry for brain PET scanner using Monte Carlo modeling
Introduction: There has been a curiosity about the spheroid geometry for PET scanners developments since several years ago, therefore in this study, we are aiming to evaluate the performance of this geometry and compare its performance with cylindrical geometry using Monte Carlo simulation. Methods: We simulated a spheroid geometry with a radius of 199 mm...
متن کاملA Monte Carlo simulation study of branched polymers.
Monte Carlo simulations are presented for the static properties of highly branched polymer molecules. The molecules consist of a semiflexible backbone of hard-sphere monomers with semiflexible side chains, also composed of hard-sphere monomers, attached to either every backbone bead or every other backbone bead. The conformational properties and structure factor of this model are investigated a...
